About disoriented.net

Author

My name is Angus McIntyre. This is my travel and photography weblog. I'm a software developer by trade, and a writer and photographer by hobby. I’ve been lucky enough to be able to travel to some interesting places, and I use this weblog to write about what I see and to post photographs.

I manage a number of other websites. My main website is at raingod.com, and showcases some additional travel photographs that you might find interesting. I also write fiction.

I have also done a couple of ‘one photograph per day’ projects, which you can find at Twenty Ten and Twenty Fourteen.

If you have questions or comments, you’re welcome to contact me (but please don't try to sell me anything). You could also follow me on Mastodon.

This site was built using Middleman, an excellent Ruby-based static site generator. Some custom code written in gulp, Ruby and Python is used to extend Middleman.

Client-side interactivity is based on the jQuery Javascript library, and makes use of the fitted and masonry plugins. A custom jQuery plugin manages interactive photo display and other features specific to the site.

Photographs on the blog were taken by Angus McIntyre, primarily using Canon and Sony digital cameras. The photographs are post-processed using Adobe Lightroom. A gulp script using gulp-image-resize and gulp-imagemin is used to prepare the resulting images for the web.

Some icons used on the site are from Font Awesome.

Previous versions of the site used MovableType.
