Small gilded fly

My birthday present to myself this year was a refurbished 100mm macro lens. This weekend was my first chance to really try it out. The main thing I learned was that when photographing small objects at close range, the depth of field is so vanishingly short that even a small movement can take part or all of the subject out of focus. Macro photography is harder than it looks.
